Welcome to the LITRO/Lambeth Libraries Short Story Competition 2008.

The competition is open to people aged 11-16 who live, or attend school, in the London Borough of Lambeth. The winning entry will be printed in an issue of LITRO (which goes out to 50,000+ Londoners and online every month) as well as receiving prizes including an iPod Shuffle and National Book Tokens. Here are the details:

- Entrants must submit one original piece of writing of no more than 1000 words
- The title must be 'Underground' -- but don't let that stifle you -- interpret this is the most creative way you can
- Entries should be emailed to litro.fiction@gmail.com with the subject line 'Lambeth competition entry'. Please send as a Word file (the file name should be your surname), and remember to include your name, age, school and email address in the document so we can get back to you if you are shortlisted. Printed entries are also accepted -- please post to LITRO Competition, Ocean Media, 19 The Porticos 384 Kings Road, London SW3 5UW
- Entries must be received by 5pm Friday 16 May
- By submitting a piece to the competition you guarantee that it is original to you, and agree that if it is chosen as a winner it may be published in LITRO magazine
- The result will be announced in the first week of June
